Height correctors

Post by Toby_HDi »

When I can bring myself to do it, I will be removing the HCs and the roll corrector from my Activa, stripping them and cleaning them properly.

Whilst they are off, providing the system is depressurised and all open LHM lines plugged is it OK to lower the car to the ground and rest it on its wheels?

I don't want to do it if any damage will occur but equally, I'm not keen on having a car in the road on stands for a few days.

Do you have the means to lift it up to refit the hc's when it's done?

Yes, I'll have to double check but I'm sure my jack goes under even when the Activa is set to low.

i would be enclined to place some blocks under the front and back end, or you will not get you jack out let alone back under to lift her back up,

Yep, I agree, keep her up on stands. In fact, the A/S valves will do their job even with the HCs removed, not that you must ever trust them to support it though... It'll make the job much easier long-term.

You'll need a very slim jack with a big lift to bring a Xantia up off it's belly.

One thing to bear in mind, the system will bleed for days on end with the correctors removed so you'll need a big drip tray underneath. The Roll Corrector piping is especially prone to bleeding profusely....

if you dont want her right up on stands on the road just blocks under the sub frame's, just high enough to get you jack in and out,
