The problem with automatic RHD Xantias is that the position markers by the gear selector are obstructed by the lever as its designed for LHD

Most if not all automatic 'modern' car's have the gear position displayed on the dash so it may be that the repeater on the dash was fitted due to legislation and found to be the easiest/cheapest way of getting around the problem without completely redesigning the dash.

Having never owned a S1 V6, does the oil temperature actually rise that much? With the 2.0 non turbo VSX Xantia's I've had, the gauge barely moved at all.

One thing I forgot to mention is that S2 models have the little plastic clip on the drivers 'A' pillar which I find very useful for holding parking tickets, the paid in advance sort

Oh yes, the oil temperature on the V6 often goes quite high when the driving gets spirited Richard :D The upper reaches of the gauge can be reached quite easily and in normal running it soon reaches 90 degrees...

That clip, yes I must admit, very useful, no... Really it is...

Check your sensor Richard!!

My HDi Xantias oil guage temperture goes to around the 100 deg mark!

Oil temp guage is only missing from AUTO cars, manual Exclusives still have the guage..

Paul, whilst you drive quickly please read slower,,,, I was talking about 2.0 petrol non turbo models. As I don't thrash my car's the oil temperature on my HDi's has pretty much always run at 90°, interstingly the oil temperature on TD's risies noticably when climbing hill's, now going off topic,,,,,,,

Yes Richard, I did see you said a 2.oi N/a... and I mentioned the HDi as DERV engines are (supposed) to be more efficient,

Normally my HDi sits at 90deg as you say, but I have seen the guage at 100 deg... :D

Gosh  Now you have tow of them Lexi, invest in a 20L can of the stuff. High initial outlay but cheaper overall...

I made a discovery about the stuff last week. Seriously off-topic now, I happened to spill a largeish quantity all over my carpet-tiled workshop floor. Although originally blue, they're largely stained black from years of spannering but on the tile that caught most of the spill, it's now almost blue again! LT71141 has some quite fantastic detergent properties about it

Can someone please take a picture of said quadrant light? Both my MK2's have NOT had one, and looking at the underside of the gear lettering, it appears to be totally black... Doesn't look like it was designed to let light thru

Ta

EDIT: Also one of the underside of the lettering, just to compare. Thanks all
Regan.
