Tyre sizes

Post by XantiaDaveEire »

The tyres that are currently on my car are 185/65/15 and the tyres i'm looking at getting are 195/65/15..

They would fit ok wouldn't they? :-k

There wouldn't be any real differance good or bad ?

They will fit fine, i have them on mine I think exclusives had them as standard, though am not 100%

But you are not alowed to put wider on the front than back, so either replace all or but the 195s on the back.

Will give you a speedo error of about 5%.... You could go for 205/60s as these are the same rolling diameter as 185/65. Note that insurance cos these days may take this as a mod and refuse to pay out in the event of a claim

Never heard you cannot have wider tyres on the front than the back - certainly MOT fail if not the same on the axle - but I could be wrong

The 195 65 15 tyres in place of 185 65 15 will give an error of 2.1% too slow.

meaning at 60 its actually 61.3

205.60.15 is an original Xantia tyre size, as used on Activas and Exclusives etc. 195.65.15 is not an original size but it should be fine to use. As said, your speedo will now under-read, however Xantias often over rear by 5mph, so you should still be within tolerance.

im currently running my xantia on 195x65x15's and will be going back to factory standard ones next.

The only problem i found was i had to lose a couple of mudflap bolts as they rubbed on full lock. no big problem...

I prefer the look of the "normal" size tyres

Early Dees had wider front tyres than back; 165-400 compared to 155-400.

If we keep this up, Jim will create an "Olde Pharts" subforum for the over-40s to reminisce in.
