Hi ,I have driven a P reg Zx turbo diesel today which has heavy power steering .The tyre pressures appear to be ok .
i might be interested in going for it .
Anyone know is that likely to be a difficult/expensive fix
it seems to be heavier when giving it more than a quarter turn
the car generally is in good condition , lady owner and under 120k miles .
thx in advance .

Might be worth checking that the drivebelt to the pump is correctly tensioned and that the fluid level in the pump is at the correct level.
If these are ok, jack up the front of the car, so the wheels are off the ground and try the steering lock to lock to see if you can feel any stiffness.
There is a possibility that the upper strut bearing may have seized or failed. With the bonnet open, turn the steering lock to lock and look at the top nuts of the strut to see what they are doing. If you can put your finger on it, you can feel any roughness in the track, as it will feel like the bearing is grinding.
If that is the case, they are not expensive or difficult to change. but you will need a set of spring compressors to dismantle the strut off the car and replace the bearing.
If you get the car and you are near or in East Sussex, PM me, as I have a few of these bearings.

Thx for the replies , i do get over burdened relatively easily.
It' not my car at the mo. and i cant take it out , the turbo didnt seem to cut in at 2k revs like they usually do.It's a 1.9td volcane , does that mean a duff turbo ??

Only one vacuum pipe on the Volcane TD - goes to the brake servo
I'd say the turbo usually kicks in at ~2k5 ...but since my tacho almost never works I can't say that with any authority.
