Bootlid brake light

Hi, my Xantia bootlid brake light has just failed. How do I acess the bulb? iI have undone the plastic cover on the inside of the boot lid , but Iam unable to reach the bulbs . any help gratefully received. cheers Terry .

It's a game Terry.

The light is held in with spring clips. Basically you need to remove the bung you have seen and then using quite a large, wide pry-bar in the hole depress the clip on the side on the lamp whilst simultaneously trying to pull the edge of the lamp out of the boot. It's not easy... It all has to be done by feel and gymnastics. It helps if there are two of you to do this. Once you have one side on the way out the other follows sweetly.

The bulbs are just normal capless 5W jobs, the same as used in the number plate lamps, sidelights and interior lights and so on.

After renewing bulbs the lamp snicks back into place with ridiculous ease...

If you haven't got a pry bar a 3/8" socket set extension works a treat.

A lad at work replaced all the bulbs in his Picasso HLBL with LEDs.
They were so dim as to be useless - they were blue and the red filter blocked all the light.
