Hey all,
Is the aux / serpentine belt on an early C5 the same as a Xantia? (hdi 110).
Mate's sick of chucking money at it at the garage,so has asked me. I've done mine and am pretty sure it's the same motor/setup?
So they're part exing it monday.. now the belts frayed..!
Cheers, Dave.

Yea, the Mk.1 C5's , Y reg to around 54 plates, the 8v HDi 110 units are the same...
Y reg Xantias actually had the external coolant heater on the back of the inlet manifold like S1 C5's... so they WILL be the same..

Yes....and no
There are 3 options of belt fitted to both the Xantia and C5, but only 2 of them are the same. The difference is small - a variation in length from 1736 to 1750mm - the long one may fit the short cars if there's enough give in the tensioner, but it probably won't work the other way around!

Great,least the motor's the same,cheers chaps
P.s, Richard,
Throw a spanner in the equation why don't you
only jesting
I'm sure when I got my belt from GSF there was only 2 available..one for air con, or not, but 3
What's the best way of my mate getting the correct belt then, vin number?
(don't want to be fannying about with a belt that's never gonna fit..)
pp.s, I think it's a 52 plate,110.
Oh, and is it possible to fit the belt by just loosening the bottom tensioner, or does the top tensioner,(the awkward one..) need loosening also?*
* can't remember, sinility setting in!
Cheers, Dave.

1999 Xantia LX 2.0 HDI 110 Rusteration project...
I thought the Xantia's used XU series engines (like pre-facelift 406s) and C5s have the EW/DW series engines (like post-facelift 406s); but on trying to look this up I found that the Xantia II's did offer DW enginesHDI Dave wrote:Great, least the motor's the same, cheers chaps
Here's the breakdown on C5 1st gen and Xantia II drive belts from Citroen's service box:HDI Dave wrote:Great, least the motor's the same, cheers chaps

C5 1st Gen:
DW10 Turbo Diesel without AC
5750 YC K6-LE 1454
DW10 Turbo Diesel and AC
5750 YF K6-LE1736 (Sanden compressor, until RPO 9337)
5750 VX K6-LE1744 (Sanden compressor, since RPO 9338)
5750 YG K6-LE1750 (Delphi Compressor)
DW12 Turbo Diesel (I guess this car always came with AC)
5750 VS K6-LE1740
Xantia
Diesel XU without AC
5750 WR K6-LE1102
Diesel XU and AC
5750 WS K6-LE1726 (Sanden)
5750 YF K6-LE1736 (Harrissow)
DW10 without AC
5750 YC K6-LE1454
DW10 with AC
5750 YF K6-LE1736 (Sanden)
5750 YG K6-LE1750 (Delphi until RPO 8871)
5750 GF K6-LE1747 (Delphi since RPO 8872)
So there are some matches (including cross-matches like Harrissow on XU and Sanden on DW!), but it all depends on the compressor used and the RPO.
Hope this helps.

The HDi (DW) 110bhp engine which was first of the family originally replaced the 2.1 XUD Engine ONLY at first
So the 90bhp XUD continued along side the HDi in the Xantia for a year or so again to around W reg... So any S, T or V reg HDi Xantias are useually 110bhp engines as the 110 was first to come along...
Then later in 2000 the XUD was gone and replaced with the 90bhp HDi DW..
