Hi
Just bought a Citroen C5 2.0l HDI VTR on a 54 plate with 29000 miles on the clock, the car is in very good condition and i am very pleased with it.
Can someone please tell me how to find out if this car has a particulate filter on it ,and also what type of engine oil is the best to use on this car .
Thanks.

This depends really, is it a C5I VTR with the 2.0HDi 110 or is it a C5II with the 2.0HDi 138 engine? The end of 2004 was when the C5II (or facelift) was introduced and so yours might be one or the other.
None of the 2.0HDi 110bhp engines fitted to the C5 had a FAP filter, so your car won't have one. However if it is a C5II 138 HDI then it will have a FAP filter.
The earlier 2.0HDi 110 8v can have a few oil grades, 10W-40, I use 5W-30 Synthetic Total oil in our 110.
The later 2.0HDI 138 16v should have low sulphur oil in the form of Total 5w30 'ECS', as this is best for the engines fitted with a FAP.

Hi Thanks for your replies, my engine is an 2.0L HDI (110),I have had a look underneath the car and i can see only one cone shaped box at the front cant see any wires or pipes on it. Can not see FAP on the V5.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Some markets have FAPs fitted but it's highly unlikely your car is an import - is it?Citroenmad wrote:In that case your car will not have a FAP filter, no 110 2.0HDi fitted to C5s have them
