Magnet on fuel pipe C5

Post by Gibbo2286 »

Looking around under the bonnet on this bloo......C5 (which won't start at the mo) there's a plastic case gadget with a magnet in it cable tied to one of the fuel pipes, no connections to anything on it, any ideas what it might be?

Suggestion have been so far, a scam fuel economy device, a tracker sensor, somehing to open a gate. etc. :) G.

More than likely a "fuel saving" device. Makes you want to cry how many people seem to be under the impression that magnets are magical.
No real reason to attach a magnet to a fuel line unless for some reason your fuel is full of iron filings :D. Remove it and stick it to the fridge or something

I wish it would 'placebo' the starting problem, damned thing was running fine first thing yesterday morning then wouldn't start and I still can't see any reason. Obviously some computer magic involved, battery's good engine flies over but wont fire up. G.

So can you hear the lift pump start when you first switch on?

I'm not too sure JohnD, there's certainly some noise coming from that direction, I've had the plug off and there's only 7 volts on one wire and 5 volts on another, should they be at 12 volts? G.
