Re: gearbox squeak
The only real way is to carefully disengage the rod balljoints, being incredibly careful not to stress the rubber mounted ones, clean the balls and ballcups thoroughly and smear on a the tiniest film of normal grease on the balls and reassemble. If you use too much grease you'll not get the ballcups back on as they will hydraulically lock.froggy wrote:Which is the best lube to lubricate the selectors ?

The balljoints themselves near the gearbox may not be the problem. There's bellcranks under the gearstick itself and it's likely these are dry and squeaking. Also there's a pivot on the subframe and a big hollow rubber ball on the subframe pivot that could conceivably squeak. That would need lubricating with rubber grease or silicone spray.
To really determine the cause, jack up and support the car and then climb under and listen carefully whilst someone else wiggles the gearstick.
