Front seat loom

Post by Toby_HDi »

Does anybody know where the loom for the front seats ends up?

From the seats, it disappears under the carpet towards the front of the car.

I've just had a look at swapping my Activa seats for leather to find that the loom is not in place in the Activa, I only have the wiring for the electric height adjustment.

Have also just discovered I don't have the wiring for heated seats either.

Hopefully it all ends up at a connector where I can just unplug that part of the loom and replace it with the loom needed. I very much doubt it will be that simple though.

Don't worry too much about not having the front seat loom, when I fitted electric seats to my VSX I also only had the basic section attached to the seats so I soldered on a connection to the main ignition feed just prior to the ignition switch and put a fused link in for safety.

As the seats are rarely adjusted there is little chance of overloading the wiring, especially as the heater fan won't be running prior to start up and you won't be starting whilst adjusting the seats!

The heated seat loom is another matter but before you bother with that does the drivers seat heater work?

I was rather hoping a short bit of the loom could just be replaced. Saves messing with splicing and soldering. But yes, I could just do that. I could probably just tap into the existing wiring under the seat as the Activa seats have electric height adjustment.

I don't know if the heater elements work. If they don't they are easily enough repaired anyway. I had to repair one on the Coupé.
