You need the code off the A post first of all to identify your car to the Lexia but, basically, yes.
Don't forget that the key you get cut has to contain the transponder chip.

There are two components when you buy a Lexia. The hardware - which I think is called Actia - (plugs, cables and the like) and the software. The hardware will work on Peugeots but you also need the specific software (Peugeot Planete).
You would also need a laptop to install the software on. Not a very modern one would do - Windows XP seems to be the best OS. Vista and W7 are a bit more "difficult"

Just about to buy key with id46 transponder. Hope that's right. Says citroen 01-.
I did read that the transponder is a write once time so it was crucial to get it all right before programming but nice to know lexia jas safety built in.
One thing which may be aproblem is the locks rotating in the door.

It shouldn't matter which way round you do it as you have to synch them both to the car. However, just for peace of mind, I would do the original first as you know that works!

When I bought my Xantia it came with no keys, it did have the card tucked behind the sun visor, I rang a locksmith I knew from way back, he'd sold his business but passed me on to the new owner who was running it as a mobile workshop, gave him a ring and he came to my place supplied and programmed the main key and supplied a spare cut but uncoded key all for £90.00.
He also offers an extra 10% discount for pensioners.

No, you resynchronise the original to the car. Actually, you synchronise both but the new one needs the chip burning as well.boristhespie wrote:So I have to reprogram original?
You can't set the car up with zero keys. I honestly don't think you can do anything t the key that would be terminal. The worst is that you would lose synch on one I reckon.boristhespie wrote:Also is there anyway I could bugger up my existing key? Wouldn't want to end up unable to use car?

Not quite sure what you mean.
You synchronise the keys by following the instructions. The keys have to be inserted into the ignition because that's where the sensor coil is. This coil reads the transponder chip (to allow the car to start normally) and also writes to it when synchronising.
