I know my radiator fans aren't working at all, but I'm sure it's not normal for my temperature gauge to be pointing at nearly 110 degrees when travelling at 70mph...
I've also noticed a little oil usage too.... About a litre a month.
Is this normal?
I haven't used the AC or anything to make the engine hot...

This might be caused by another reason. From my experience (long time ago): Corrosion in minus cable of battery
and funny symptoms, one of them was the over temperature readings.
You can test fan motors by switching on air condition which should force both fans run even if the engine is cold.
I have recently added a thread in 'How-to' section:
--> Radiator fan motor removal
You might need it

Usually mileage is more essential than the time. 1 lt sounds a lot.P616VKX wrote:... I've also noticed a little oil usage too.... About a litre a month.

As a first solution you can try motor flush and Forte is best for that.

I've done 7,000 miles in 3 months, stuck in 3 litres of oil in that time.VertVega wrote:Usually mileage is more essential than the time. 1 lt sounds a lot.P616VKX wrote:... I've also noticed a little oil usage too.... About a litre a month.

High temperature at speed isn’t a fan fault because there’s plenty of air blowing in from about 25 mph.
Unless it’s an indication fault, lack of coolant flow causes high temperatures at speed, possibly from a faulty thermostat.
If it gets too hot, it will be obvious when opening the bonnet.
If it consumes oil at normal temperatures, it will need a thicker oil.

I think I'll have a go at the Thermostat and then look into the temperature sender... Probably due for a coolant flush anyway. I think the sender is a little duff as it never seems to read nothing... Apart from when the ignition is off, always reads 60...Clogzz wrote:High temperature at speed isn’t a fan fault because there’s plenty of air blowing in from about 25 mph.
