How do I replace this rubber thing?

Post by Ozzie Kuma »

Can someone tell me how to replace this rubber thing please....(if it is possible that is). I assume it is there to prevent "bottoming out", don't know what it is called.

That is a "butée élastique" or bump stop. P/N 0000516655

I remember noting yours were a little past their best - mine are not in good shape either!

General remedy in such cases is to buy the newies and then eyeball them to work out how best to remove/replace. In this case, they appear from the images to just wiggle in from below.

They are $94.22 each here (should that be ouch?), or $120 posted per pair, from a European supplier. One of the chaps here might be able to get them cheaper ex-UK, as my German contacts charge like wounded bulls for postage on small items.

Bump stops over here are £11.02

I should get some on order, mine are buggered! Posting over to you can't be much if you want me to look into it?

That sounds the go; "Royal Mail Small Parcel" is the tagline for affordable postage.

I use PayPal a lot to send small sums of money overseas - seems the easiest way at present, although I hate the company with passion.

Will be in touch about the heater bit; just haven't downloaded my photos to help explain its installation as camera went flat.

Did you want four ozzie kuma, or you want 2 and addo wants 2??

Are you two fairly local to eachother - ie would it be worth sending one package that you to can then forward a pair on to the other?

I got two Xantia so I though I would do them both,.. but just been under it now & they are fine,.. on the older car (??? very strange)

So only TWO for me ( sorry ) but if addo want two as well, send the FOUR to me & I'll get then to addo,.. ie .. one parcel..one money transaction,.. I owe addo anyway.

That ok by you addo ?

I'm not sure if wagon ones are the same - need to confirm and also estimate the lifespan remaining on mine (if any!).

Sorry Dommo - been smashed with work until a day or so back. It's presently too wet for looking under my car.

Dommo - is it going to be too much a chore for you to tackle this mission at present? Please advise.

Sorry forgot to let you know what is going on.

They are on order. There was a bit of a faff as to which to order as apparantly there are two types, if you could PM me the exact part number you want I can be sure it's the ones I've got on order
