Aircon issues- still!

Post by lazza »

Hi All

I did post this on the aircon forum, but dont seem to get replies there.

as follows:

I have had problems with my Citroën's Harrison V5 1135253 compressor. The original was leaking from the joint between the two halves. So last year I replace it with a second hand one- which had the same problem!!

This year I bought a brand new one for 350 €... which I have just put on, only to charge the system and it's not working

The clutch seems to engage and disengage immediately... the charge seems to have stayed in the system. At least Feu Vert didnt charge me for the refill-

Any ideas why it might be engaging and disengaging immediately? Is it possible Feu Vert recharged the system incorrectly?

Thanks
Larr

Sorry about that. The system was holding good pressure when it was removed, is all I know.

Hmmmm thats an interesting one!!

I did a recharge on a Xantia HDi however, I accedentally filled it with Liquid and not vapour/gas

(My regulator on my bottle has the option of both) and the compressor had great fun protesting and was cutting in and out as you say!

So I would think its had the wrong stuff put in the system.

As soon as I re-vacced out the system fully and put in the Gas the system worked perfectly, was was ice cold too!!

Thanks for your replies

I dont understand how they could make a mistake though as the machine is automatic i thought? And the high and low connectors cant be confused can they?

Could it be a blockage? The last charge i did (last year before this one) i asked them to put extra oil in, because i thought the system had lost some. Could this be the problem?

Any ideas very welcome

Thanks

Larry

ps Mike, dont worry, just bad luck, i think those Harisson compressors are susceptible to that failure

They have to tell the machine what car it is, could be they got it wrong.

Ok, so to check that possible cause, i can take it to another garage.

I want to take it to another Feu Vert in another town- the reason is that they dont charge you if the charge doesnt work

But rather than tell them the whole story, it'd be better to empty the charge i have now- how can i do that safely?

thanks

You cant really unless you illegally let the gas go by opening the valve... Same as a tyre valve... I guess thats no different to a leak... They would vac it out first anyway to determin a leak anyway....
