My Xantia 1997 T.D.
The a/c is not as cold as it used to be . I guess I need a regas ?
What does this cost ? I guess most garages are able to sort the a/c ?
cheers Terry

Hi Terry, a regas may be the "quick fix" - be aware that aircon flex hoses degrade over time, and you may have or be developing gas leaks in the system.
If you have it topped up with a UV tracer added, it's a simple process to follow up in a few weeks with an ultraviolet torch to see if any leaks show. Don't forget to look for traces at the A/C condensate drain hole which comes out of your firewall near the passenger's right foot.

When I got my Xantia it was the same, the AC would work but very poorly. I got it regassed a few weeks ago for £50 from a mobile AC specialist and its now like a fridge-freezer, perfect.
The guy who did mine assured me it didn't have any leaks and was just low of gas due to the cars age. Its still working just as well as it was when it was first regassed, so I don't think its leaking.
Most AC places recommend a regas every 3 years to maintain its effectiveness. No point in having AC if its not at its chilliest!

Cheers guys
I would not normally recommend kwik fit, but they have a regassing service that is around £50. If the machine finds a leak they do not charge, and also if they do not improve the system by 10% they do not charge either. As long as the operator puts the correct car details onto the machine its does all the work, leaving the grease monkey well away form anything technical
currently no citroens
