Air Bag Light Flashing on (Perhaps a useful Tip)

Post by jmd »

My Air Bag Light came on yesterday flashing on & off. Decided to turn it of with the key, but while continuing my journey I remembered that I had a can of Electrical Switch Cleaner in the car. I sprayed all the switches under the seats, which didn't seem to make any difference. I then sprayed switch cleaner into the Airbag switch. This cured my problem. I relate the story in the hope that it may be of use to other members. The switch concerned is between the seats of course, where it catches lots of dust & perhaps should be cleaned as a matter of routine with a switch cleaner.

Hi JMD - thanks for the tip. Didn't work for me though - I have done the soldered connections and I'm about to change the rotary connector.

I have a question about switching off the passenger airbag - when I did this, the airbag warning light came on and stayed on - is this normal or just part of my on-going problems? I looked in my handbook but it doesn't really tell you.

Thanks

Nigel

It's normal for the light to come on and stay on when the swich is in the disable position.

Richard - thanks for the reply. It seemed logical but I just wanted to check.
