My latest xantia is not happy ! it seems to be losing LHM,i looked by the struts and spheres and they seem fine is there any common areas to leak ? its a mk1 1995 1.9 td.

Normally they betray the source by leaving a green puddle underneath somewhere. Look for drips and wetness on the subframes for further clues.
How high is the consumption?
A sphere that's just ruptured will easily consume 400cc of LHM...
If the brake dosuer is leaking then the LHM will leak into the drivers footwell pretty much unseen. Pop your hand under the carpet and feel about..
It makes a gawdawful mess under there as LHM melts the bitumen sound deadening pads on the floorpan.

Check the 17mm hexes on the pump (one has a metal feed pipe, the other is just blank) and the seam between the pump body and it's bell end.
It can leak onto (and into) the alternator eventually killing it.

thanks for the clues i will get checking tomorrow, i topped up about 350ml of lhm, the car has also got covered in engine oil so i have plenty of oil to see !!!
the engine had an oil seal fall out lots of oil every where !!
its a bit of a banger but i am trying to save it from thr scrap yard !!
