MOT passed.

Post by daviemck2006 »

C5 passed mot this morning, no advisories :D Not at my nearast citroen stealer, Pedigreed cars Forres. Will NOT ever go near them again. 2&1/2 years ago when replacing a turbo sensor and topping up Eolys fluid at the very expensive cost of £600 plus they told me I needed new struts urgently, certain fail at next mot. That was at 55000 miles. Passed next mot, then next and again today at 101000 miles, still with same struts and never needed them looked at or lhm fluid topped up. I think I will need Eolys fluid topped up soon, not saying so on dash but cant be far away. Does any other garages do this or does anyone know if you need specialist equipment to do this. Or can anyone recommend a garage in N.E. Scotland, Aberdeen/Elgin areas which will do this for me? My mot man dosent do it and just suggested stealer.

I lived it Tenerife for 8 years and they have the best system. They call it an ITV instead of an MOT. Any car under 10 years old last of 2 years then 1 year after that.

They have independent centres that you drive in one end and stay in the car, stopping at each station. First checks the bodywork, seatbelts, wipers, electrics and emmissions. Then you drive forward onto a rolling road that checks your brakes and then forward once more over a pit where they check underneath.

You come out the other side with either a pass or a fail. You get a sticker on your windscreen with the date of your next ITV if you pass or drive away, get the work done and then go back if you fail.

As it's independant you don;t get some con man trying to get work out of you.

Once took a car two two differerent MOT stations and got failed on completly different things. Total con!!

Road tax was only £25 per year and petrol at 0.60p per litre. Oh the joys of being back in the UK

I use a testing station for all four of my cars. They just do the test with no repair work. I took the C5 there yesterday and the Saxo ten days ago. Both passed and I have the 306 to go in on 6th May. They give them a thorough but fair examination. The car that came off the ramp just before my C5 got a fail. Appointments are booked in advance on the net and currently it costs £35.

Forgot to say, my mot man who I have used for years does not do repairs either, other than replacing bulbs or wipers if necessary. He is fair and if there is anything which is needing repairing, although not mot fail he will let you know
