At the 12 o clock position of the mirror glass there'll be the x2 tail ends of
a cicular(ish) spring that's held in corresponding little hooks on the frame of the
mirror glass back. The circular spring holds the frame onto a large boss on
the main mirror body.

What you need to do is get a slim flat screwdriver to unhook the spring by
coaxing the angle of the mirror glass so that one of the spring's tails can
be fished out to the centreline of the mirror glass and outwards to the
outer glass so it springs out of one of the hooks allowing the whole spring
to free the mirror glass off the boss.
Putting it all back on is a bit of a PITA but doable with practice and you
learn the knack. I've found trying to press the glass back onto the centre
boss with the spring in place is too ambitious and the spring needs first to
be helped into the correct hooked position one side and the other loose end
coaxed back into it's hook with the slim screwdriver - I've tried a blob of
chewing gum and sellotape to hold the spring ends too with varying degrees
of success.

cheers just had it out and i found that if you put it back with the spring on if you push it back on gently starting at 5 then 8 then 2 then 11 it clips home quite happily. I may just have been lucky though
