Picasso oil filter plunger

Post by Bick »

Hi all i have a picasso with the cartrage oil filter. 1.6 8v petrol.

when you remove the small paper oil filter there is a plastic plunger and spring that it fits on.

well its broken! good that oil and plastic!

citroen say i have to purchase the whole oil filter housing just to get the plunger. they say only the filter and cap can be purchased seperatly.

this is bad because they are £106 and all i need is the plastic plunger :(

do any of you know where i can get one from

many thanks

the filter houseing is

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00001103P3 FILTER BRACKET 97.95 GBP 117.54 GBP 117.54 GBP

but the picy of the filter looks like its got something through the centre, this might be the plundger,

here is price and part No. of two filters listed for your chassis No.

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00001109CK OIL FILTER 11.22 GBP 13.46 GBP 13.46 GBP

E149109 OIL FILTER 6.71 GBP 7.88 GBP 7.88 GBP,

might be worth asking if your local dealer can show you both opptions,

The same filter housing and cartrigde are used on all later TU type engines, and most 2.0HDI's

The spring would press the filter cartridge against the bottom of the housing and the plunger is there to keep the spring located - I suppose ?

Would the spring together with the cartridge bottom seal constitute the filter bypass valve ?

Just an update.

you cannot get the plunger seperate from the oil filter housing, funny as Haynes says it should be changed every time you do an oil change.

so at the moment ive done a bit of a bodge and its okay.

if you do do an oil change with this type of filter, you must pull the plunger up to empty the filter housing but take care.

i do miss my very simple, reliable xantia

thanks folks
