Siemens or Bosch? How to tell on a Xantia

Post by nobbi1977 »

I have a 99 Xantia HDI 90 and have just got hold of a DTUK box very cheap.

The box is for a Siemens fuel system HDI but I have no idea how to check which system is in my car.

Is it not stamped on the high pressure pump (or ECU) who manufactured it ? :?:

Its been a few years since I looked at one so not 100% sure.

No idea. I open the bonnet and just see the huge black cover. Guess I better do a bit of digging. I did not know if there was a quick check method

Bosch has an in-tank electric pump, which you should be able to hear running for approx 10s after ignition switch on (if you don't crank it!) - Siemens doesn't, and has an underbonnet fuel primer.

FWIW I'm pretty sure that ALL Xantias are Bosch - Siemens only came along later in Xsaras etc.

Hi Richard..

So why doesn't Siemans have a Lift pump?? Is there a Draw Pump built into the Engine Pump??

The Lift pumps in the Xantias constantly run after the engine has started just like a petrol engine..

As for the Q.. Remove the cover from the engine, by twisting the 4 black "Button Clips", watch the rear as there could be some Vaccum hoses attached... then you will see the pump on the engine.. on it it should have Bosch and the Part number..

So far EVERY Xantia 90 or 110bhp use the Bosch setup..

Yes thats correct, the lift pump is built into the main hp pump.
If its a xantia HDi then its bosch, siemens was never fitted to the xantia.
