What fuse does the front 12v Socket? Mk II C5 Estate.

Post by Philjw »

The BoL says that it should be F7 but the board layout shown does not look at all like the one in the car. F7 is OK. The front socket seems to have no power. I haven't noticed that anything else is not working.

Any thoughts?

The socket rear connection may have failed.

Just checked the second socket in the boot and this also has no supply. I'd like to know what the fuse is as this looks most likely. Helpfully the 12v sockets are not listed in the owners handlook though everything else seems to be.

Hi Phil, is this car new to you? If so, maybe there is a shunt that's set to power up only with the key on.

Cheers, Adam.

Hi Addo. No I've had the car fom new and tested it with and without the key turned on. It should work without the key.

According to Citroen's own on-line Owners Handbook, series 2 C5 should have this fuse for the front socket - in the "Dashboard fuses (Box C)"

F9 30A Cigar-lighter - Front 12V socket

This handbook covers series 2 C5 from 07 on.
There is no info found on earlier series.

Hi Anders,
That seems to be the handbook for the current model. On mine which is the first facelift the cigar lighter is OK but both the 12v sockets are out. I think that the mk 1 had the two sockets powered from 1 fuse (f7) and the cigar lighter from another.

Hi Anders
It's always good to get ideas even if they don't solve the problem.
Thanks for trying
Phil

Hi Phil, can I have the RPO number? I'll see if I can view the wiring diagram for you.

Solved!
Well as we couldn't say which fuse to look at I resorted to checking every fuse in sight. It turns out to be one of the larger size fuses in the glove box. There are just 3, 2 x 30 amp and one x 20 amp. It is the 30A one in the middle. You need a meter to tell it is blown as unlike the smaller fuses you can't see the conductor.
Thanks to all who contributed.
