Thanks Richard, that confirms the basics that I was aware of.. just thought there was more to it.

Jim, that's a nifty tool that even I can make up.. cheers!

What tool is used to remove the awkward inaccessible bolt under the pump please? Or does one have to remove hp pump bracket etc each time to get it out? Something like a crows foot spanner perhaps... :?

Ed,

You need 13mm half moon shaped spanner or remove Hydraulic pump and alternator for easier access and normal spanner works.

3 x M8 bolts for locking camshaft (1) and fuel pump sprockets (2)
An 8mm drill to fit into flywheel plate to lock that.
I think they are 40mm or 50mm length.
IF you have any problems Ed send me a PM and I can send down the timing stuff. It doesn't cost that much about a £10 for the set.

Ed,

There are 4 bolts holding the pump to its bracket 3 at the front and 1 at the rear under the injector ports on the pump. Be careful that you don't loose the nuts as you will have to take the Hydraulic pump and alternator offalong with the bracket to recover them.

Ed,

Here are the correct sizes from the timing kit

2 M8 x35mm and 1 M8 x40 mm 8mm drill will do for flywheel.

I have a laser timing kit No 1867, Laser Tools phone number 01926 815000.

Kenny,

I do have a 1/2 crescent spanner but it seems the fit is just too tight whereas a 13mm would probably do the trick. Was hoping not to move
the hydraulic pump. My non aircon Xant looks like a doddle by comparison.

Thanks for the dimensions and info, knowing the correct lengths helps a lot. The ones I made up were based on thumb-suck and a bit problematic.
