xsara 1 airbag light is back flashing on and off again!

Post by eurotrotter »

hello hello hello

hope everyone is doing well

about 2 months ago my airbag light was flashing, cloggz recommended for me to d/c and reconnect the battery, i did it and it stopped the airbag light from flashing - thanks again cloggz worked a treat

but now, about 2 months later the light decides to come back on again, and is flashing again, i d/c and reconnected the battery again, hope it work again, but this time, it did nothing.

any ideas?

thanks very much

p.s i dont have multiplexing

Might need it resetting properly with a Lexia.

Disconnect battery (important) and wait a couple of minutes.

Examine the wiring under the front seats that are connected to the pre-tensioners. It's likely this is where the problem is, as its the most common failure point.

its the AIRBAG light, not the side airbag symbol, so could it still be wiring under the seat?

Yes, I was not aware you had side airbags on a MK1 ? :?:

I was assuming it was doing the "306" / "ZX" thing and wiring under the seats was breaking. :) , I guess they could be in the seat belts / pillar instead but I am not sure. Just trying to provide a few pointers for the moment to assist, hopefully.

Remember to disconnect battery first, wait a few minutes (leave battery off!) and then go look at the wiring. On a 306 it was not uncommon to chop the plug off and solder / heat-shrink the wiring to stop it re-occurring.
