C8 12N Socket Issues.

Post by BernieLugg »

Righto, anyone got a wiring diagram for the rear lights on a 2008 C8?

I have both 12N and 12S sockets fitted by a previous owner but they look to be scotchlocked into place. This Im not a big fan of owing to the problems they can cause. Presently when a lighting board or caravan is connected to the 12N the car does its "test" sequence of hazards, rear lights on, brake lights on, all off and then repeat (3 times) before extinguishing and normal running... Or it would do. But the left indicator light stays lit all the time (on the lighting board only not the car).

There is a socket on the OS behind the light cluster and I suspect that this is for a factory fit 12N or even a 13 pin Euro socket. This is option 2 should I fail to resolve the permanently lit issue of the NS indicator.

So Gentlemen, thoughts if you will.

Now sorted out.

Removed the faulty bypass relay, removed the scotchlocks, soldered new 12N wire into the loom and fitted a 10a fuse to the ring main take off (all connections are after the CANBus wires).
Fitted a new bypass relay and 12N socket - all for less than £12.

I suppose if it had been a Xantia we would have had 3 or 4 pages of replies

Now, next issue is the borked mirror motor....
