Xantia Bump Stops

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi,
Has anyone changed these--Rear Suspension Bump Stops. Are they just screwed into captive nuts.?? If so, they have escaped, lol. They are just turning round and around. Just looked at Cit Service site, and they call them Rebound Blocks.
Thanks,
Greg

Take a look at the price of them before you pull out the ones presently in there, IIRC some are £50 a set  there are also different types of rear bump stops on Xantia's.

One is all but broken up, and MOT is in a month, so need to get one. If that price, a trip to scrappy is in order.

As asked, do they unscrew, or are they pushed in with the aid of a slippery substance- ????

Not sure how to describe, they just twist in and twist out. There is a plastic stalk on the end with sort of fins. For my HDi they are about £19 each from the dealer. I'm in a similar position, mine are looking ropey and MOT in 2 weeks. I have a set off another car but they aren't much better. They comprise a hard plastic base into which the "rubber" bit fits. I was thinking that it should be easier to find something to do the job for a lot less than £38 a pair.

From the MOT manual:

Note: a missing bump stop rubber is not a reason for rejection.

Hi,
Thanks for replies.
If there is a gap of time in answering your replies, please don't think I am ignoring you. Most nights I don't get home till after 02:30am, so too knackered to turn the puter on for a few days. Tonight I am a bit early, lol.
Regards,
Greg

Xantia bump stops

Greg,
Changed mine last July £21 a pair from main dealer. 5 minute job.

They are not required for MOT, only for comfort.
