Bulb replacement on Xantia '00

Post by ellsy66 »

I have just tried tried to replace bulbs in my Xantia using the handbook to tell me which bulbs i need (stated H7's) so went and got them tried to fit and looks like i actually needed H1's??

Does anyone know if i can actually still fit the H7's as I have heard its a better bulb anyway but can it actuall be used? There is a double fitting on the H7's but only the one on the H1's plus the hole isn't big enough to get the bulb in but i do have the option of unscrewing a part in the unit to get it in??! There does also seem to be a spare electrode that i could possible fit to the H7 actually attached to the light unit but doesn't look like it does much??

Am i being ridiculous? Please someone let me know, thanks.

Probably...just buy some H1s and fit them, 5 minute job. H7s fit Xsaras, so someone here might take them off you if you can't take them back

I'm intreagued that your handbook said H7.
Going to have to dig out my Mk2 handbook and check that tonight :)

The filament will be in the wrong place, you'll have no beam pattern, possibly blinding other drivers and/or being completely useless as a form of seeing where you are going...

My advice, stick to the H1's

Hi there,
Had exactly the same problem on my mk2 xantia a few weeks back! that was after checking by usin the registration number on a suppliers website, as well as checking the handbook!! just took h7,s back to shop i got them from and swapped them for h1,s. glad i didn,t get them off the web in the end (local motor factor had a two for one offer).
Strange indeed!! glad it wasn,t just me being thick though!!!

I went to a Motorfactors in my town and was told that H1's and H7's fit the Xantia on a 97 plate, depending on the model. I took a H7 home and it turned out to be a bloody H1... If I'd got a H1, it'd be a H7, I just know it!!!
