Diesel cold start cable

Post by RichardW »

Am I right in thinking the GSF cold start cable comes without a seal? If so, what is recommended to seal it - a trip to the Cit dealer[:0], or a dose of instant gasket[}:)]??

RW -
On both my 19RD's - no gasket was found here - but lot's of (soft) instant gasket. It only have to seal against the coolant system pressure - don't overdo it.

I fitted one of these not so long ago to my ZX. The original one was sealed with a load of gooey stuff. The new one came with a copper seal, like a big sump washer. I cleaned off the goo and fitted this washer instead with the new coldstart waxstat and it doesn't leak at all.
I used GSF part N18862.
