Hi,
I'm looking to change the gearbox oil on my c5 HDI. I can't find the filling hole on the gearbox. The gearbox does not look like the MLT5 one and I have no idea where to look. Does anyone have a photo of the filling point?
Regards,
Howie

On the ML5C gearbox (reverse over on the left next to 1st gear) I was shown the filler on my C5 while it was on a set of car ramps. It was on the side of the box facing the bulkhead.
A bugger of a place to get to - fortunately mine didn't need topping up.
If I were doing a complete oil change I think I would measure how much oil came out and then replace at least that amount through the oil breather or something else that was on the top of the box.

Thanks everyone, I'm still struggling to work out where the bl*&dy filling point is though.wright wrote:according to autodata the 04 c5 2.0 hdi takes 1.8 litres of 75w80, i put in 2 litres and it blew a drop out the breather, it will get rid of any excess oil

Here I think.
I believe its the same gearbox as the late Xantias
I used the funnel and tube method, using the filling tube from the gearbox oil bottle taped to the end of a 1m plastic tube which was then taped to a funnel with gaffa tape. You have to have the car on a level surface though.

All done now. I could not find the filling point at the back of the gearbox, so used the breather hole on the top.howiedean wrote:Thanks everyone, will have a look at changing the oil as I have a couple of options when I get chance.c.morewood wrote:Here I think.
