That is hard to believe, I guess the history has got lost, as at some point in its past surely someone recored a service!

Well I suppose I shouldn't be quite so fussy on reflection. I mean, what should one expect for approx £500?Citroenmad wrote:That is hard to believe, I guess the history has got lost, as at some point in its past surely someone recored a service!

Just don't want to risk going all the way down to Hereford, and finding the suspension is either rock hard or not rising, or diesel weeping from the pump.
The advert put me off tbh.
I like ads. describing as much as possible, and even going into the 'bad points' too, cus let's face it, ALL 2nd hand cars have faults and problems lurking that the owner nearly always knows about, no matter how small and trivial.
The search goes on, with several options in the mincer still.
Anyways, I'll be purchasing Mr TehAgent's '91 ZX for £150 for my sadly unemployed youngster to keep him occupied for a little while, IF I get the nod and green light to drive it back up here from my MOT mate.

No! You should be fussy and only settle for a car your truly happy with.
Yes that is a £500 car, however for a few hundred more you might get a far better one, one with service history and a much better description, maybe even one closer. Its just a matter of playing the waiting game.
Xantias are not rare cars yet and good ones come up fairly often, you just need to stick with the searching.
If you settle for a cheap one with no history etc, you might end up regretting it when its lack of maintenance and lack of honest description comes around and costs you money, time and inconvenience.
Car hunting can be a right pain, but the right cars do usually come along, I never settle for anything less!

I tend to go on 'gut feelings', and there was just that feeling that the seller was trying to gloss over the important issues with irrelevant nonsense.Citroenmad wrote:No! You should be fussy and only settle for a car your truly happy with.

Writing an advert is a very fine and important skill that can make the difference between selling or being lumbered.

It is pretty special isn't it. Its a bit of a shame they were not sold in the UK, or sold in much bigger numbers. I can imagine only a very limited number of the 100 LHD examples still exist. Though im afraid you will have to keep wanting for our RHD version
So what about one of these:
A Citroen Xm built by Tissier. Quite a fantastic thing!
I know there is a Citroen CX Hollander in the UK which was going to get a resto, not sure whats happening with that though. One of these:
Sorry, now im teasing you, as the chance of finding any of them is, well, almost impossible! Interesting to look at though, I do like out of the ordinary Citroens.

One being the fairly recently converted CX Safari im guessing?
Ive no idea who it was now, it was someone I was talking to at the Northern CCC rally a couple of years ago. Very vague details, sorry!
Which is the other 6 wheel CX you know of?
Indeedy, I have pictures of our C15 side by side the other 6 wheeler. The other one is a hand made affair which i think was done before ours was even thought about. Its not a bad job actually, looked a little worse for its age when I last saw it but I understand its getting restored.
It was quite interesting to compare the two, how they had been done differently. Obviously the other one, the blue one, does not have the side door, rear seat, rear footwell and the side molds. The rear section differs slightly too. Its stood the test of time though.

Yep, the silver 'Loadrunner' that's owned by Phil Collins (not the singer! )
The Loadrunner's got it's own website too - Link.
I think that the other one that I know about is the same one that you have heard of - the Northern Rally bit would tie in.
I haven't got other details either, but IIRC it is owned by an enthusiast and is from the Northern part of the country.
I love the Weston's 6 wheeler - a brilliant creation and I think that it's got a nice patina too.
I'd certainly like to own it!

Well I think it was a bit more than 'hand made', but you know
Franklin, do you know if the blue C15 is being used again now? Last time I spoke to them it was off the road.
yes, sounds like the same guy with the CX Hollander, wish I could remember his name.

Haha, you only used my original words
Now, a 6 wheel C15 with hydraulics, now that would be something. Id like to see how these huge CX and XM load runners are linked up.
There used to be a C15 with hydraulic rear suspension, though I think the 16v engine just about pulled the front off it and it was broken.scrapped Getting a bit rusty.

I bought one 'trade' for less than a grand back in '97. 160,000 on an L', so what, 4 years old, and it was already showing quite sever signs of tin worm on the bonnet and around the side rear quarter aptures.
Used it for 2 years and 35,000 more miles, and it NEVER let me down.
Was looking decidedly tired when I got shut though.

Yes, they do like to rust a bit, though you can protect them from it and stop it. Ours is 16 this year and you would be hard pressed to know that unless I told you. Its in great condition. It has had body shop visits to keep things looking tidy but not many, most of it is original still and looking well. The bonnet is perfect and has never been touched. It doesn't follow the usual C15 rust bucket image.
Ours has done 108K and has never let us down, its never even had the clutch adjusted. Obviously its maintained regularly, but that goes without saying.
