Sphere Removal Derby

Post by bbb »

Hello,
Have mnaged to snap and re-join my chain wrench three times but only removed one sphere so far.

Is there anyone on here local to Derby / Burton who could help or recommend a garage that could change the spheres?

Many Thanks
bbb

This is not an answer to your question but just remembered my experience with the chain version sphere removal tool :(
It was surprising how easy it is to snap a chain. I have modified it with a thicker one and it is still in one piece 8-)
--> Simple sphere removal tool (chain version)

- You can try the same or
- buy a proper sphere removal tool from ebay (search with 'xantia sphere removal' in ebay) costs around 15£
- or make your own

was thinking of going the motorcycle chain route. the bike chains are just too weak to get the spheres off. will have to see what I can find.

What spheres are still stuck and need removing?

I'm based in Stoke and work in Burton so could possibly lend a hand one day.

Rear spheres I find are a no go with the chain wrench, Ive used a strap wrench plus a long breaker bar and a good kick from me fairly effective!
