2 quickies chaps - wipers + central locking

Post by HDI Dave »

Windscreen wipers are fine on all settings except normal wiper mode, ie, fine on intermittent or double speed, just don't work properly when you want constant/normal wiper operation..typical

Not a big issue for me,(well, it's a bit of a p.i.t.a) but the wife can't suss it. So I'll have to sort it.

If you push the wiper stalk left, towards the steering wheel,it seems to work ok.
Now then, could I take it off and clean the contacts etc, or is it buggered?

Central locking:

Sometimes the locking's being a pain. If I press the fob, (which would normally go 'blip',lock, flash indicators),locked.
it goes blip..bloop,locks and unlocks again.
Haha, sorry, it's the only way I can describe it
It's not a seatbelt stuck in the door sound,it's different.
I then have to mess with the key, till it locks.
I have noticed the drivers door card has come away a bit, coincidence?

Any ideas welcome : )

If the doors are correctly shut and the central locking immediately unlocks then check the contacts where the loom block connects onto the door locks. I've had this problem a few times now and each time the culprit has been the N/S/F one for some reason. If you're near anyone with a Lexia, that can be used to tell which door lock is causing the problem.

Yes the doors/boot are all correctly shut with no obstructions.

Where will I find the loom block...in the door, or in the footwell etc? I'm struggling to find it in the Haynes manual.

Cheers, Dave.

Where will I find the loom block
In the door itself, where the block connector plugs into the door lock assembly remove the doorcard to gain access.
