I'd heard it was because of some torx bolts which secured calipers on transit vans, they had threadlock on them...citronut wrote:Kowalski
yes i know this and it was the T40 that died
i did also phone round the local factors asking if they had or could get me a T40 especialy for brake callipers, most of them saidthey had never heard of such a tool,
its funny how a few years ago i was told by a motor factors that the T40 is not coverd by the life time warenty, as people use them to undo calliper bolts that are very tight,
regards malcolm
I'd also seen people selling boxes with 20 T40 bits in them... they're a disposable.

Well at last c5 mobile again, new pads and discs fitted. once I had the correct pads got the first side back together in no time, went down the garage, he removed the locking nut on other side in 5 mins, back up road and did second side no problem. Just need the replacement trolley jack delivered and to get 4 wheel studs and the job's a good un!!!!!!!!

Got to get a rear suspension change done on a xsara today then I can have another go at the C5 front brakes. Getting them working again would be nice. I'm going to try bleeding them engine off so as to hopefully have the ABS not interfering. Not sure why it's being such a problem really.......

Been away for a few days, c5 going well, I had no probs with brakes, when screwing in pistons had pipes clamped and once all connected bled them, basically 2 or 3 pumps and everything perfect. Hope you have yours fixed now

Just got back for a few hours myself this evening. I improved the brakes a bit by bleeding them last Sunday but I'll be using the C5 to get down t' south coast tomorrow. I might be taking it easy...
