It's a damn pity that we need a hatch/estate or I'd have a C6 like a shot. The shape of the C6 does it for me. Although I'd only really consider the 3.0 diesel since the 2.7 has such poor enconomy/tax. In a car like the C6 torque is everything to lazy/comfortable driving!
We're up to 3 cars now and the XM is getting very little use. Looks like we maybe be Citroen free in the new future

XM V6 Exclusive '00 - everything working (at the moment!) and plenty of previous V6's.

Having driven the 2.2HDI C6, i would not want one if given the choice between that and the 2.7/3.0 Auto. The 2.2 felt very underpowered, like there was no go in her, i had the engine managment lights flashing at me a few times because i was reving her so high to try and get some feel of acceleration.

If you had the engine managment light on it wasn't because you were reving it it was because there was something wrong with the engine which probably explains it's lack of performance.Quackers wrote:Having driven the 2.2HDI C6, i would not want one if given the choice between that and the 2.7/3.0 Auto. Exactly the reason I bought the 24v XM and not a smaller engined one and the same reason I went for the 2.7 C6.robert_e_smart wrote:Thats the whole point of a car like the C6What do you want from a Lux Car - Speed or comfort at a nice pace..

The bigger engined C6's are usually easier and cheaper to pick up then a 2.2 HDi is too.

Exactly, there is something a miss there which is causing poor performance.cachaciero wrote:If you had the engine managment light on it wasn't because you were reving it it was because there was something wrong with the engine which probably explains it's lack of performance.Quackers wrote:Having driven the 2.2HDI C6, i would not want one if given the choice between that and the 2.7/3.0 Auto. The 2.2 is only 0.6 of a second slower to 80 than the 2.7HDi, so your hardly going to notice it all that much, and its definitely not slow at 9.5 seconds to 60.
Obviously real world driving is different, but that does give you some idea of its performance, it certainly should not be lacking.

Engine mangment lights came on after red lining it all the time (i was on a race track).
2.2 just did not feel big enough for that size car. Maybe i was just way to use to the pull of my Activas engine, but it really felt underpowered.
They stopped selling the 2.2 Manual too, must not have sold well.

Well in fairness the C6 isnt a big seller
The V6 3.0 HDi seems to have bridged the gap between the 2.2 and 2.7 in terms of economy and emissions, so it looks to have replaced both engines. Just a shame you can't get a C6 manual any more.
Id obviously have to drive the 2.2 in a C6, but it feels great in a C5, the 173 that is.
Why would an engine management light come on when reving to the red line, ive not thad that before. Also its pointless reving a deisel to the red line, so maybe thats why it felt under powered, as the power is much lower, by 4000rpm its all but gone.
The 173 2.2 has way more torque than a TCT Activa, maybe its the weight of the car that saps it all, but id have thought it wouldnt be too bad. Im quite surprised that you found it underpowered. Was it a manual or auto 2.2?
After all, as i said, a 0-60 time of 9.5 seconds isnt all that bad! 2.7 is 8.9.
