Hydraulic pump O ring size ?

Post by HDI »

The O ring on the valve which screws into the hydraulic pump has blown on my HDI :x

Managed to bodge it with PTFE tape temporarily.
Does anyone know the O ring dimensions please ? Will get one from the local belt and bearings place.

I've got some at home for my XM. If it's the same ones I'm thinking of then the pumps look the same between them.

I'll measure them tonight if I get the chance.

Citroen sell these and my local dealer had them on the shelf. They were less then a quid each from memory.

Two (of 3) types of O ring listed for the 6+2 pump are 16x1.9 and 19x2.4.

When you say valve, do you mean the 17mm hex which the pipe comes out of?
If so, get two of the o-rings and replace the one under the similar blanking plate further around the pump.
You could also get the large o-ring that goes between the pump and the powersteering bell end and replace that.

Yes, that sounds like the one except it's a 19mm hex. The main pressure feed does take off from it.
There is a bit of a story behind the problem. The original O ring started to cause a slight leak and I replaced it with one from my assortment box, but I don't think the size was quite right hence the subsequent failure.

Thought I was wrong with saying 17mm :)
Get theco-rings from the dealer as they're so cheap

My local dealer would never have them in stock, they no longer even stock LHM !!!
There is a local belt and bearing place that sells this sort of stuff, from experience I know they will will be about £0.40 each !

It's on the hydraulic pump not the diesel pump, but it's ok, nitrile O rings will resist either.
