Bouncy bouncy
Got to laugh, after suffering the ride in the Vectra, the Xantia is now on the road..Much better ride but it is bouncy..Would it be spheres need changing, It feels more bouncy on the front, the ride is smooth though but as i said bouncy..
Also i think the ride height is a bit hogh on the front. How do you adjust it.
Any help appreciated.

Usually a bouncy ride is due to spheres. If you have no record of when they were last changed then you might want to get them tested or changed.
Is the car easy to press down when you press on the bumpers?

Hi Russ, yes, that'll be spheres. You'll find they're around half what they should be pressure-wise and the ride will be a bit under-damped.
I have a favourite hump-backed bridge that tels me when mine are a bit low...
Ride height: Do the finger test. Three at the front and one at the rear. That means you can get three fingers between the top of the tyre and wheel arch at the front and one at the rear.
Ride height makes a fantastic difference to ride comfort and damping. Unfortunately it's a game to adjust it; you need a ramp and to be able to safely get under it without risk of getting squashed. The car must be dead-level too so all corners must be equally elevated on ramps.
Then, with those conditions satisfied, get under and adjust the linkage between the height corrector and the anti-roll bar until the height is correct, bearing in mind the height correctors can take up to 30s to correct a small change in height.
It's a bit of a job with a knack about it and must not be carried out until all spheres, including the accumulators, are known to be good and that the height correctors are intrinsically operating properly. In other words, height adjustment is only carried out as the very last job after all other suspects have been eliminated.
Your problem, if it persists after the spheres are replaced, is more likely to be friction in the height corrector mechanisms.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
The front is hard top press down, a bit harder than the back i would say..
As for altering the ride height, i shall leave that to someone else..lol..
A;- I have no desire to be squashed
B;- I don't want to be doing it
C;- it's easier to let someone else do it and show me for next time
D;- when next time comes around i shall be too old to even get under the car
Thats the plan anyway.
I can live with it for now and will get a price for doing the spheres. It is a shame there is not anyone near me that would benefit from earning rather than a garage..In saying that i could travel and book me and the other half into a B&B for the night..It's nice to get away..
It is nice though after riding around in a car that the last owner didn't pass on the suspension too..Thats what it felt like anyway, It resembled a road roller ride.
Thanks for your input and knowledge.

Xantic DO NOT leave it too Long!!
The bouncy bouncy WILL cause stresses in other areas!!
If its a rubber type bouncy bouncy then its NOT good, it can cause stress on the rubbers on the strut tops I BELEVE!! As theres no movment in the sphere gas it needs to flex else where!
As for spheres, book a weekend up here! Ill do them, 30 quid a corner supplied and FITTED..!
