Replacing LHS Stabiliser link,how to do it?

Hello, i need to replace the stabiliser link bar.Is this something that can be done without to much grief and hassle,with only good basic skills? One of my worries is only having the car on the one car jack with no other supports.Your thought would be most appreciated.

OK, don't know to much about C5s, is this an antirollbar link or a suspension tie rod and front or rear?

its the front lhs.i think its also called a drop link bar,could be wrong tho. It is mounted vertically and by the looks of it doesn't look to hard to fit, but if it looks to easy, well, murphy's law and all

Drop link is not usally difficult to fit, one nut to undo on each end, if it turns the stud round exert some pressure on it by jacking one side up, once you have loosened the nuts, level both sides again to withdraw the link.

There's no taper, jacking it up does not help. The easiest way to get these off is to lop the nut off with an angle grinder or nut splitter. Chances are on a 9 year old car it will just be rusty mess by now! There will be some way of holding the new stud to allow you to tighten the nut up (either flats behind or allen / hex in the end).

You can still jam them by applying lateral pressure.

Thanks one and all with your replies.I'm going to take it to a mates garage and put it on the ramp.Just be a whole lot easier and safer!

There is a 17 or 19mm flat on the rubber gaitor side for holding the thru rod steady,You can see it better on the new drop link..did mine a few months ago,easy to do,Just mind and put your suspension into highest mode before you begin working on it..
Best done in pairs only about £9 each
