Xantia - No Alarm

Post by Philjw »

I've been reading the posts on Xantia alarms going off but I have the opposite problem in that mine won't set. It is of the type which sets with the deadlock on the plip. I have managed to get it going in the past by fiddling with the fuse and with the component under the scuttle. Interesting that this does not seem to be a key switch on my model but a push button?[?] Have I just failed to find a key slot lurking under a rubber cover? Is there also a trembler switch in this thing? I say this as the plastic bracket holding it broke, allowing the component to fall upside down and the car would not start. It is fitted with the key pad imobiliser.
Any ideas?

I think the button you are refering to is the engine stop button if your car is a diesel. The switch for the alarm (just disables the sounder) is situated above this on top of the scuttle under a rubber flap.
