you realy cant adjust the hights without the car being up in the air, with all four wheels on the ground/ramp/s/level,

as the very slightest movement of the clamp on the anti roll bar will allter the hight by quite a bit,

also this action should be a very very last resort, after making 200% sure the hight correctors and linkage's are fully working,

were abouts are you

2ns shows measurement up to the bottom of the "cup" holding the rubber mounting.

If I take the 1st option actually onto the chassis that the mount is bolted to, it is 415mm (making my "L2" 140mm...out of spec, as '95 model should be 121mm) if I take the second option...it is 395mm.(ie making my "L2" 120mm...in spec)

Did you get this sorted in the end, StevieM?

I did mine yesterday and believe I have interpreted the manual correctly.

The 1st picture is skewed. The measurement is taken from the ground to the underside of the box section (that supports the boot floor) behind the rubber mounting.

415mm may be OK depending on tyre size. I think you may be misunderstanding the equation unless the Haynes BOL has misprinted it wrong.

I am running brand new Michelin Energy Savers (185/65/15). The centre of the wheel above ground on my Xantia measured 293mm. with 30psi. I added 136 mm. to this to get 430 mm.

Conversely, the front centreline is 286mm. due to the heavyweight of the front end crushing the sidewalls more. I took 121 mm. from this to get 165 mm. so mine is marginally high at the front.

Settings should be:-

Rear:- 420mm +7 or -10 tolerance.
Front:- 155mm (160mm. 205/55/15) +7 or -10 tolerance.

Hope this is of use.

My suspension still doesn't feel as wafty as a BX but I understand Xantias run tighter anyway.
