Hi all. Hope you're all having a great weekend so far.
I decided to do a bit of tinkering on my other half's ZX yesterday. Had to change the rear NS flexible brake hose with the spring on it.
Her car, I should say, is a 1.9TD SX.
I took off the back box for better access to the uppermost joint of the brake hose and it has the letters PSA 4092 (certainly PSA not sure about the numbers now as it was over 24 hours ago and I'm getting old!).
This can't be an original back box can it after 13 years - surely?
Does anyone know who the original equipment manufacturer is for Citroen exhausts as it is always best to use best quality on these things providing it doesn't break the bank!
It's about ready to give up and I'm not keen on getting a phone call to say "The car's made a loud bang and there's a scraping noise as I drive along". Could do without the stress of that personally!
ZX Back Box Part Number - Is it original?

I wouldn't be surprised as ours lasted around 12 years before it was changed and wasn't in too bad a condition only rusty around the joint. This can't be an original back box can it after 13 years - surely?

I can tell you a salutary tale about ZX exhausts. My wife had a td estate which we sold to a friend of ours a few months ago. I replaced the back box two or three years ago with no problem, then the front pipe broke, i got a replacement from On Line autos which was a dreadful fit, I had to change the position of the rear box mountings to get it to fit.
Since we sold it back pipe from the cat became detached, I welded it up but it broke off again, the price of a new cat was expensive to say the least but I noticed that there was a catless system, just a long pipe with one box which was a lot cheaper, so I ordered one, when I cam to fit it the flare on the back end was not big enough to stay under the clamp, so I eventually had to weld it on!
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with Online auto's exhaust but they are not compatable with the original parts, so if you get one from them, or possibly any other pattern part supplier - beware. It would have been cheaper and eaiser if I had fitted a whole system.

Oh dear! Now I'm worried.
Bet a back box from Citroen is silly money if they even still do them.
A mate of mine reckoned it was a Timax code but I told him PSA stood for 'Peugeot Societe Anonyme'. (edited by me from Peugeot Shapron Automotive )
