Xantia front accumulator housing leak
Hello, was out this morning changing engine oil and antifreeze when I noticed a LHM puddle. It's leaking from the accumulator housing right at the end of a cylinder, there's a 11mm pipe coming out of it. Not sure how to post a picture on here. Is there a seal? This is the 3rd leak now. Sigh.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Without seeing a picture, I'm guessing this is from the extreme end of the cylinder where a round plate bolts on to secure the end of the cylinder to the gearbox.
If so, there's an O ring under here that goes. Bit of a 'mare to replace it though as you have to compress a big spring in the cylinder and remove a C clip in so that the cylinder end-plug can be removed to replace the O ring around it.
Normally best to let Mr. Pleiades attempt this repair...

Linking pics is described in details in the link Xac has given.
It's simple:
- Create an account (photobucket, flickr or similar)
- Upload pic
- Copy link of the pic into your message
: If you clean it first it would be easier to pinpoint the source.
It can also be the rubber hose or the seal as already suggested

Ive resized it for you Jaf. Please keep image size to no more than 640x480 for ease of viewing. Your original was HUUUUGEEE
That fairly certainly confirms my guess from my original reply.
Mr. Pleiades can be contacted here
He's a Citroen Hydraulics specialist and often posts in this forum...

Thanks again. Saw that my pic was bigger than heathrow airport so removed it and added a thumbnail but I was too slow and you'd already sorted it.
Any idea what I should call the cylinder bit? Might have a look at a second hand one as Peterborough is a bit far from here. Posting it to be fixed would take ages and I can't be without the car. I know that driving with leaky LHM is dangerous so I'm in a bit of trouble!
Will also try the citroen specialist ( he worked 20 years for them) who changed timing belt and rear spheres for me.

Its an easy job to do, just depressurise the supply system by undoing the 12mm bolt 1 turn, then remove the regulator and if you have a big vice you can do this

Hope this is of help, it really is easy if you are just replacing the 'o' rings, the valve is only 2 shuttle valves that ballance hydraulic pressure with spring pressure, nothing fancy and you will only take the end bung out anyway.

For a reasonable price I can be "The Transporter" 4, between Spain <---> UK
You can call the cylinder bit as Pressure Regulator and looking at the picture it's the end seal as Jim already said
Edit: Great pic story

A few important notes.
1. always lubricate new seals before instalation
2. if you are not taking the whole valve apart make sure it is perfectly clean before you open anything up.
3.make sure rust asnt got onto the seat of the 'o' ring and caused the leak, if it has give it a gentle rub over with some emory cloth to remove it.
