V6 Xantia Wanted

Post by stedmancinques »

Greetings one and all from a new member to this Forum,

At 165k my 1997 2.0 Desire automatic has started to shown distinct signs of tiredness in the engine and transmission department. Rather than spend large sums on it, I am looking to replace it with a V6, after one of which I have long lusted, so,
WANTED XANTIA V6, don't mind Series 1 or 2
Must be automatic and below 80k miles, preferably clean and tidy, don't mind odd scuffs or dings, but not dented panels. Not worried about the colour. Must be roadworthy with current MOT. Prefer located up to 150 miles from Kent. (God, he doesn't want much, does he!)
High end spec preferred. Cash waiting for right car,
Cheers

These only came as top of the range Exclusive spec with an auto adaptive
gearbox so that expands some of your requirements to all the v6's!

Hi, very soon my beloved v6 will be for sale. It's got more miles than your request however unlike most it has had regular gearbox oil changes throughout it's life, meaning the box is in great mechanical condition. There are a few scrapes but is overall in good condition, as anyone who has seen the car at the ccc rallies will attest to.
Mechanically great, apart from an annoying electric issue at this moment, but that will be fixed at the weekend.
1999 v6 134k miles, a light metallic green colour, not the usual dark green. Cream leather interior, with all the toys, AC, sunroof, headlight washers, heated seats, auto wipers, auto dipping mirror.
If your interested will get you some pictures.
Gone to the dark side.

Thanks, Andrew, you learn something everyday, but I seem to remember one being advertised on ebay a while back as 'rare manual transmission'. By top end spec, I meant would prefer leather seats and a (working) cruise control. Some were Activa, as well, I believe. Any education gratefully received, Cheers

Ive seen your V6 on a few occasions, it does always look very tidy.

Its in the best green colour in my opinion, looks great with the cream leather.

Unfortunately we never got the V6 Activa in the UK, so the V6 models are all Exclusive automatics. I think there is one or two manuals but they have been converted to manuals, its not a standard fit.

Spec does differ slightly in the Exclusive depending on what year, though i think all S2 V6s have the same spec, only S1s differ slightly with leather seats, electric adjust etc.

I believe the only real difference in s2 V6 Exclusives will be the fitment
or not of a sunroof. Both s2 v6's I've got have one as well as the leather,
AC and cruise control with one being an early s2 on an R and the second
on a T plate. The car would have likely been fully loaded with every extra
with the sunroof a delete option rather than a cost extra.

The one thing I believe they should have is a rear boot spoiler as they're
significantly faster than an Activa which had one fitted! :? All in the quest
no doubt to hide it's true blitzkrieg potential and be a superb Q-car though
so a spoiler may have spoiled it... :P

Not sure how critical this is, but the early s2's continued the s1 autobox
which had a dipstick that was discontinued on later versions.

It just make checking the autobox fluid level a little easier (or is that a little less difficult?)

Only early (R Plate) S2s may still have the dipstick.

We may have a 1997 Series 1 Xantia V6 Exclusive with 48k miles on it for sale shortly.

It won't be for another couple of months though I'm afraid.
