It's a 1997cc engine DWW engine code.
The sump looks like a pig to remove. I think engine will need lifting up quite a way, but haven't had it up in the air yet.

I suspect that that is a Suzuki code
Some of the PSA codes are
DW10TD 2.0 8 valve 90bhp
DW10ATED 2.0 8 valve 110bhp
DW10BTED 2.0 8 valve 110bhp
DW10CTED 2.0 8 valve 110bhp
DW10ATED4 2.0 16 valve 110bhp
DW10BTED4 2.0 16 valve 136bhp (I think)
DW12TED4 2.2 16 valve 136bhp

I think that B or higher indicates Euro4 compliance

There are three codes for the 2.0HDi 110 8v, didn't know they had changed them, must be just for emission reasons?

as far as I can tell the difference between DW10ATED, DW10BTED, DW10CTED is injectors and ECU (so different maps).
Also the DW10BTED, DW10CTED only appeared in the 806, Synergie and Expert (and related) vans.
It's probably due to emissions but it could also easily be due to some Fiat requirement as these are the models that were joint with Fiat.

As the 16V DW10ATED4 produces the same output but with a lot more parts it does seem a bit silly so maybe that's due to emissions as well. I'm pretty sure that this is what 16V Suzukis got.

I'm glad my 806 only has the 8V because working on it is already a nightmare. It's like fixing your car through a letter box. The 16V must be an utter nightmare on a people carrier. It's okay on my 607 though.

Just to be pedantic, the DW10BTED is the earliest intercooled 2.0, rated at 95bhp (engine code RHX) and fitted to the Expert/Dispatch/Scudo vans 2000-2002

Hello everyone again. I tried some engine oil flush and cautiously ran it. Guess what?
When I ran it today, the oil light stays out for ages and only flickers briefly on at idle. Much better than before.
I will remove the sump on Sunday and hopefully clean out the turbocharger carbon/debris and it will go on for another 77K.
I have had a look at a lot of Grand Vitara HDi websites over the last few days. There are some pretty appalling owner/driver comments about them reliability-wise.
They should be a good buy for someone who knows what they're doing and can repair them without going to a dealers.
By the way Wilkinsons are selling their Fully-Synthetic engine oil for £7.95/5 litres with a reasonable B4 diesel spec.
Thanks for all your very useful info, regards Ian.

Presumably, KP, if I go the eight valve conversion route, I will require at least the inlet/exhaust manifold as well as a whole heap of other stuff?
The new reconditioned engine I have been offered is obviously a bare unit.
It may well be an option though if it turns out to be knackered.
Thanks KP.

Not true
my 806 has DW10ATED, rated 110bhp and it has an intercooler. Built december 1999

If you do go the 8v conversion route get as many parts as you can and if the exhaust gives you issues just chop the cat off and weld a new section in (if it has a cat on a suzuki unit!) and it will help free it up a bit more :-)

The saga continues: oil pressure is now up to 2 bar at 1,000, and 4bar at 2500 RPM. That is good enough for me!
I asked the owner a few days ago: "I presume that they changed the oil & filter after fitting the new turbo unit?"
The bill has engine oil, but no filter.
However, they said that the filter "was definitely changed after they fitted the turbocharger. It just wasn't on the bill".
So, I changed the oil/filter anyway as it looked pretty black.
There is no way that they have changed the filter.
It is rusty on the base of the filter and is stuck so hard on, it looks like it may be a new record for how long it is going to take me to remove it.
It looks as though it may not be even be a genuine Suzuki item...
So maybe the ancient oil & filter are at the root of the oil pressure trouble all along.
I will report back tomorrow.

The oil pressure has dropped again after an oil change. Engine will come out in a weeks time. I am thinking along the lines of getting the 8v cheap recon' engine and making a good one from the two. Thanks, Ian.
