I think that the LX has the two line Type A display whilst SX and above have the 3 line Type B display.
The same displays are used on my Ph II Xsara and I changed the Type A for a Type B which immediately gave the correct information that a Type B gives for the Xsara.
I'm not sure whether there's an option that needs to be changed with a Lexia in order to fully use a Type B. I suppose the only way to find out is to try.

So your LX now has a trip computer?
Does it now show you suspension levels on the larger screen?

No the levels are only shown on the cluster, right hand side. It shows all the mileage related stuff, decent radio display, time and temp at the same time speed warning thing and check control stuff.Citroenmad wrote:Thats good!Nick69 wrote:Today I plugged in the new 3 line type display. I'm also interested in this procedure, having an C5 LX I would like to change the display to the 3 line model.

Go for it Sid. The trick is to get one for a decent price from a scrappy - it'll far too expensive from a dealer.

Then make sure that you never get them! Having got them on the rear of my estate I now wonder how I lived without them for soo long Just wonderful for picking up on those low bollards which seem to be feature of so many parking places these days, so low you dont see them until you hit themCitroenmad wrote:Might be worth a try, as the larger screen is nice to have, i like the trip computers.
Ive done without parking sensors this far without a scratch, so I can live without that! It could be a bit of a bonus though perhaps. Another nice feature.

So it now shows you your average MPG etc? Very handy mod if soNick69 wrote:No the levels are only shown on the cluster, right hand side. The speed limiter on the S1 C5s is good fun, as its set on the trip computer your not sure what its set to. Ive had fun annoying my sister with it on her C5, though she still complains about it now and its set much above the national limit!
It is slightly incriminating though, as you need to do the speed to set the limiter. Well its not really a limited, it deeps and you and flashes up 'speed too high'.

Yeah it shows fuel left in tank, average mpg, instant mpg, miles till service (or since last reset?) the speed thing, check control, picture of the car showing which doors are open, fault discriptions such as seatbelt warning, brake pads low (which mine are) etc.
Its actually nicely done and adds a nice touch to the car.
On the reverse warning thing, not sure if I have it or not as the car 'BONGS' when I put it in reverse but thats it. I suppose thats the next thing to look at.

Excellent, thats a really nice mod for LX spec levels. Who'd of thought it would have been so simple, I like simple
Reverse thing? Im guessing you mean rear parking sensors.
And yes, i think early C5s were designed with the USA market in their sights perhaps, as there is a bong for everything. That bong is to tell you that you have just selected reverse gear, obviously you wouldn't know that if there was no bong, would you?
Im pleased to announce that the bong got deleted for the facelifted C5. I dont miss it!
Parking sensors are a nice feature, ive used them on a few cars and found it does aid parking sometimes, though it makes you a bit lazy too. Our old C5 estate had rear parking sensors, they worked well and really did ease parking in tight spots. However with the flat back on the estate reversing close to things is a doddle anyway.
The rear of a C5 hatch is a little more tricky, as the back is quite high and the boot lid sticks out a considerable way and is invisable, more like a saloon. earlier C5s are the easiest, as they have no rear wiper, later S1s got a rear wiper which gives a slightly raised section to the rear window making it higher again. The facelift C5 seems even higher at the back window, and im sure the boot is a little longer too, the front certainly is and its no more in sight either. Ive got parking C5s down to a fine art now though! The problem I have is remembering which C5 hatch has the towbar fitted so i can take into account the extra length, to avoid putting it through someones numberplate
Ive never thought about fitting parking sensors though, as I manage fine without them, but it would be a bit of a bonus I suppose, especially on a hatch.
