C3 diagnostic help

this flippin 04 C3 is playing up again,

it is comming up with these fault codes

P0116
P0300
P1336

it has come up with the first two before,

and the third one is to do with crank/cam sensor/s,

is there a way to test these appart from a continuaty test,

now it is runing uneaven,

the AA fitted a new coil pack when it played up a few months ago, and told the owner to have new spark plugs fitted as soon as posible which i did,

i have since fitted a new coolant temp switch,

if the coil pack had failed again what could the cause be,

and is there any way i can test it with it pulled off the spark plugs but maybe still plugedinto the cars wireing loom conector,

Has the engine been stalled?

Mine had the last one I believe, last time I had the codes read and it automatically records that if the engine has been stalled, as mine had.

Once cleared it goes away until the next time the engine is stalled - unless there really is a fault there.

Best way to test it like this would be to use spark testers like these > http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165469

What are the actual lexia fault descriptions ?
What engine is it ?
I would say the only proper way to test the crank sensor it with an ociliscope, some Lexia2's have a built in measurement card for this.
I would say unlikley that the crank sensor is causing the fault as its unlikley the engine would run at all if it was faulty.

i have also added the initial faul descriptions,

then with the help of a MAGICIAN ( Steve )each page that comes up when clicking on each one,

appart from one which says something was interupted and would not give further info

Had a thought on this one seeing as you replaced the coolant temp sensor & the fault code is back again, Its not unknown for the coolant temp sensors to leak into the wiring harness, capillary action can draw coolant up the wire & straight into the injection ECU. Disconnect the 3 ECU plugs (after following the proper battery disconection procedure) & check for any signs of coolant/water in the plugs & ECU. Obviously water in an ECU can cause allsorts of weird faults. Its worth a check as it only takes a few minutes.
Another thing is it may not be ignition related, It could be losing fuel supply ? Another very common issue on this engine in the C3 is injector number 4 getting water in it leakin in through the washer jet hole in the bonnet, usually though it would normally log an injector related fault. You can do a resistance check on the injectors when they are disconnected, each injector should be around 12-15 ohms.

how does the coolant get inside the sensor, i thought the tip is one piece machined brass with no holes through it,

one other thing i have recently fitted a new battery,

also even though the engine managment lamp is on this mornning just moveing about my yard, it sound back to normal,

unless the fault only shows once it is up to temprature???

Your right about the machined brass but you get a hairline crack in them which you probably would'nt notice unless you were looking for it.

The sensor might be slightly different as this is off a TU5JP4 but this is why they usually fail, the pressure in the cooling system combined with capillary action can push coolant right through to the ECU over time.
