Xantia Side Airbag

Post by DHallworth »

Hello Guys,

Having an issue with the side airbags on a Xantia Exclusive HDi.

I've run the Lexia over it and it's told me that the fault is on the nearside (passengers side).

The specific error message is "Permanent Fault - Airbag Cartridge Open Circuit".

Is this likely to be the wiring under the seat or the actual airbag in the seat that's knackered?

David.

Possibly. With only forward airbags, I don't know if the plugs are similar.

I've this theory tested only on my car (with 100% success) that it's not the connectors which are the problem, but the crimping of wires into said connectors.

Bascially, I opened the connectors up - simple, as the clips come apart - and soldered the crimps. Been perfect ever since, and I have abused it somewhat to test!

It does seem quite a common issue on most PSA in that the connectors do come apart (well, poor connection anyway, I used to do a lot of 306's), but usually that's caused by seat movement over time, if as you say its the same type of wiring for the side ones it may be the same 'problem' then.

Panic over... turns out it was the pins in the green connector with the orange wires underneath the passengers seat that was causing the problems.

All sorted now though.
