xantia running rough

Post by rongee68 »

r reg 2.1 xantia, running rough and lumpy, had this before and found it was a broken fuel pipe and it was dragging in air, this time i can't find any break or leak, and there are no air bubbles in the fuel line, any idea's welcome

Ron,

Check very carefully the blanking cap on the end of No.1 injector. It can leak and hide the fact...

Does it start OK? Does it 'hunt' at all either from cold or hot when idling?

Does the engine stop within a second of turning the key? Does the Engine management light come on at any time either during shutdown or whilst running?

Can it develop full power?

When did you last change the filter?

Can you see any air bubbles in the translucent fuel pipe leading to the pump?

Sorry for all the questions. It'll help the diagnosis!

Not quite on topic, but Jim - my 2.1TD takes probably less than half a second to turn off after you turn the key. I think it's normal but what is the reason for it running briefly after the key is 'off'?

Cheers.
