aerodynamica wrote:Also, I have a xantia alloys question: I have a set of the Belfast 15" wheels and still have a mystery 'wheel balance' vibration that I can't resolve. I have one spare alloy too that looks in very good condition but it is actually different to the other 4. The spare has a deeper center boss so needs longer bolts and will sit out wider. Does anyone know why it is different?
It'll be meant for another car. Each car has a different offset.
If you use the wrong offset, the wheel can either foul the body work on full lock or can stick out a long way from car body work.

I've found the shoulder of the alloy wheel where the bolt's washer beads against is the key
difference with various sets of alloys on the cars I've got. Basically, from seeing the alloy
you have it can determine if you need bolts that have the 60 degree tapered shoulder or you
need the alternative square 90 degree ones if there's just a plain diameter bolt opening.

I guess the square shoulder bolts will work in either type of alloy whether tapered or not
but if there's a choice you really need to match these square > square or tapered > taper!

C5 rims:

With smaller tyres they would look great 8-)
Hello, My name is Dejan, I am from Belgrade, Serbia. I am owner of Xantia 2, 2.0i, 16v. and I am interesting what wheels 17 is possibile to put in on Xantia.
What offset need that wheels, and rest of all becouse I dont need some tire or wheels contact under Xantia body... :)
I found some info where some put it info that is for Xantia o.k. offset from 13-18 is it o.k. or no.
On this photo up, I saw a Citroen C5 wheels but I think that offset on that wheels is bigger then 18 (is it correct)

Thank you for all info.

Be careful going for large wheels (and therefore low profile tyres) on a hydropneumatic Citroen.
Ride comfort is provided to a large extent by the tyres - they are the first line of shock and impact absorption.
This is true of both Hydractive (7-sphere) and non-Hydractive (5-sphere) systems.

To get a feel of what low-profile tyres would feel like, just over-inflate (as an experiment) your existing tyres by 0.5bar, and see whether you like the ride. You may find it very knobbly on poor road surfaces, and crashy over ridges.

Many owners report that these cars run most comfortably on original profile tyres, and soft-wall Michelins (eg Energy Savers), but you may well have other things in mind.
