What do those figures translate as Jim?
Clearly #3 is ready for the bin, having been refurbished once, but the figures mean nothing to me other than the huge discrepancy on injector 3.

I really don't know Steve, we need the wisdom of an HDi guru to tell us.

My knowledge of the HDi is very lacking :(

The unit of measurement is volume in mm3

Stevie,

I'll try and speak to a couple of people I know,
1 X citroen mechanic who loves Xantia's.
2 A diesel injection company in Edinburgh who test the diesel systems.

Will pass figures on for injectors if you are happy.

I presume these measurements were made at idle speed and this is the rate of injection.

Good to see you able to get injector feedback on lexia. I struggled understanding mine when it worked. I recall a link I posted to ebay regarding injector testing and servicing and will re post incase they can be of help.

They test and refurb and give full diagnostic readouts etc.

Thought of this myself as my other car is now sitting in the middle of a ww2 airstrip in the open countryside just waiting dor a vandal.

It's the not knowing that is the killer. Or the paying numerous garages to find they don't know.

#3 has been refurbished in the past - a couple of years ago.
I think it is kaput.
I have heard that refurbishing these injectors is limited in scope and largely useless. It did make a significant difference when done but the engine has always had some vibration since.

Car has been great today although I did have the Antipollution Fault up for the first two starts. It has been used a bit more than usual today though as someone broke into the compound at work (again!) and stole all the diesel from the vans (again!).
Also stole a van to take their loot away in.

So had to wander out to buy stuff to repair the fences (again!)

Will sort the MAF first, the the boost sensor, then the injector and do a service on it as it is over six months since the last one.

Malcolm! How much excursion is within the tolerance limits for the injectors?

No.1 -0.43
No.2 -0.20
No.3 +0.82
No.4 -0.27

As you have observed there is a fair deviation on inj. #1 compared to 2 & 4.
If I have it right then 1 will fire before 3 and if they are both out, albeit in opposite directions then that may account for the lack of sewing machine emulation noticeable in my engine.

I did buy a pile of fasteners on Saturday but haven't opened the bag to see what they might fit - not the wheel arch liner that's for sure.

I did get some with the liner but they were incorrect and the liner is fixed in with self tappers now :?

Spoke to Lawson Diesel in Edinburgh and the boss stated your No3 Injector is knackered and No 1 is showing signs of problems otherwise no problems!!!!!!! :wink:

Car has been much improved since Paul cleared the codes.
Hoping to get to the dealer to order a MAF today.

So, from that I would assume that those injector correction rates have to be pretty close to each other. Would that be the view of your tame diesel man Kenny?

Mornin' Jim and Stevie,

I didn't ask that question but my thoughts would be they should all be in specfic tolerances ie very similar for the system to run correct.

I'll contact him again on Monday and speak to him further.

Stevie, hold off buying new injectors and I'll see what price he would charge for injectors.

I have been to the Citroen dealer which was no fun at all.
Something in the air triggered an asthma attack and then the parts department was closed for refurbishments :)
Will have to go back Tuesday to order one - except I am babysitting so Wednesday, then collect it Friday or Saturday.
Was going to replace the MAF, see how that went, replace injector(s) then the boost sensor.

Is it much of a job to get the injectors out?

The link previously was for the wrong injectors - they are refurbished ones that I think I will avoid.

This was the one I intended to link to. Not certain if it is the correct one though.

Thanks Malcolm - just seen your post :(

Just been to the dealer for the MAF -almost same price as the previous one, £132.43, difference being the VAT increase no doubt.
Asked about the boost sensor (MAP) which rather pleasingly was £40.07, £20 less than the online one :shock:
They will also discount the price if I need it. :)

Will bung the MAF on in the morning, I called in to my local car parts guy and while I was talking to him the factors brought the oil and filters I had ordered. Unfortunately the delivery driver was drenched in deodorant which affected me worse than smoke does and they were on the point of phoning for an ambulance. Not recovered sufficiently to be arsing around under cars and getting a used oil shower :)

Typically, I had to go to the post office to collect some tools that couldn't be delivered during the week, then to the library, then to Sunderland for the MAF, then back for oil etc.

Typically, the car went perfectly, no sign of the rev limits and boost failure that has been becoming worse by the day, sometimes struggles to reach 20mph for the first few miles.
I'm sure it knows that the stuff was paid for so it didn't need to be difficult any more.
I think it will be Christine 5 from now on.

My conveniently place V5 - car file is right beside me for some unfathomable reason, usually well hidden when I want it - tells me that it is a DERHZ*, variant DERHZB (whatever the hell that may be)
VIN=VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] & engine number DYMT4002653.

I will run it for a bit with the MAF replaced and see if it still needs a new boost sensor or if that code was thrown up in relation to the MAF failure.

KennyW is going to see about prices for injectors so won't move on that just yet, the dealer price is said to be around £250 each but I have seen higher prices quoted - well over £300 each.
