SHORT CCT on wiring to screenwash motor
hi i know the screenwash motor works fine when fed with external 12v supply [disconnected 2 pin plug on reservoir ]
but my question is ,on the wiring what should the resistance be to earth?
both wires are short to earth ,ive traced them to behind rhs of bulkhead possibly go into bsi unit, bsi shows no signs of water ingress ,and no fuses blown any ideas please ? jimbo

Check fuses in engine bay. Ignore BOL fuse diagram.

I think its one of the miniature blade fuses. Will pop if motor seized due to ice.

Sorry :) , I had to double check as the ones in the engine bay get overlooked.

Next step, grab a test light and insert into one of the pins and then test it with the switch, repeat with both pins.

I cannot recall if its permanently live or not, and models with a rear wash wipe simply invert the + and - feed to make it run the 'other' way to get output to the other outlet pipe.

It's worth doing this as you must confirm if its a switching or an earthing issue.

Do you have a rear washer ? , if you do try that.
Andy.

thanks,Andy
the two wires measure to earth with or without pressing the wash switch, yes it does have rear screenwash ,i understand that ,when working normally the one single motor is used to wash both front and rear ,i assume the polarity ie reversed to wash rear this could be done with a relay ,it could be jammed thus shorting out the wiring ,but i cant find it i cant get my head round the fact that both wires are short to chassis !

You've got me then :( sorry.

Unless its a BSI fault, I thought about the switch but that's part of the COM2K so I wonder if its worth having it checked on a Lexia, it might show up a configuration issue or something.

Not really too sure what else to suggest, although if you 'can' get to borrow another switch to test that would be an idea.

You're welcome. You too :)

Hopefully someone else will have some ideas. I might of overlooked something really obvious...

As far as I know the 'signal' to the pump ie the actual 12v feed will come out of the BSI.
